What is Kidney Disease?
ARE YOU AT RISK OF DEVELOPING KIDNEY DISEASE?

  • Do you have Diabetes?

  • Do you have High Blood Pressure?

  • Are you Overweight?

  • Did anyone in your family ever have kidney disease or failure?

  • Has a doctor ever told you that you had protein in your urine?

  • If you are South Asian or Afro Caribbean then you are 3-5 times more likely to develop kidney failure than white Caucasians.

    Now is the time to ask your Doctor about getting tested, so what should you ask your doctor?


    Before you ask your doctor it may be an idea to:

  • Know as much as you can about your family’s medical history.

  • Know what conditions you may have

  • Take a note pad with to write down the answers you are given and ask more questions if you need to.

  • Bring someone else with you for support and to help you remember everything you need to ask and are told.

    HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU MAY WANT TO ASK:

    “Based on my medical & family history, am I at risk of developing Kidney disease?”

    “Would lowering my blood pressure help reduce my risk of developing kidney disease?”

    “Do my blood & urine tests show signs of kidney disease?”

    “How can I prevent or control kidney disease?”


    The website is for people with high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease and those at risk of developing chronic Kidney disease.

    It explain the tests which show how well kidneys are kidneys are working and all the things that can be done to help prevent further problems
